Athens Fire Dept. trading up to newer truck
The Athens Fire Deparment is hoping to take delivery of a newer fire truck sometime this month in a replacement for an aging tanker truck. The AVFD will take ownership of a 1994 E-ONE custom engine in the next few weeks. Four members traveled to Pennsylvania in November to look at the replacement truck, and the board of directors approved the purchase in a December board meeting. This truck will replace the aging Tanker 10 (a 1984 International) and will bring the entire fleet up to speed with the demands of the job. The truck features more seating, a bigger engine, and better pump than the international. The fire department recieved word last week that the truck had been painted and lettered and is ready for delivery pending final paperwork processing.
